14 times longer service life possible depending on the application

Using aluminum-titanium is the manufacture of sophisticated AlTiN-based  Coatings possible that:

  • remain stable despite higher cutting speeds and higher cutting temperatures

  • have high hot hardness and oxidation resistance

  • even at high temperatures  are wear-resistant

  • allow a massive reduction in set-up times

  • Excellent sliding properties for improved chip evacuation and high cutting speeds and high workpiece feed rates

  • remain flexible even with high-performance forming

  • are suitable for demanding precision components

The AlTiN-based layers remain wear-resistant even at high temperatures. This increases the service life of the tools, and fewer tool changes are required. The thermal stability and wear resistance of the AlTiN layer are particularly beneficial when machining HSS. Indexable inserts, milling and drilling applications are often coated with AlTiN.

Standard applications are a thing of the past,
unique and outstanding coating results are now in demand.

Tailor-made alloys for specific and demanding applications and

of course also standard sizes in the form of individual offers.

INNOVATIVE COATINGS
TO MEET THE HIGH MARKET AND CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS

Numerous companies achieve remarkable improvements in the performance of tools and components through the coating materials and auxiliaries optimized by Avaluxe.

Experience examples from projects:

  • Integration of AlTiN-based with TiSiXN layers to increase ductility for superior wear resistance, reduce cracking during high-temperature machining.

  • Multi-metal doping with AlTiN coating helps prevent oxidation during high-temperature machining and offers high chemical resistance.

  • Inclusion of chromium-based alloys in the AlTiN system for graded load profiles for machining difficult-to-machine materials such as hardened steel, nickel alloys and titanium metal while minimizing cracking and improving the resistance to chipping.

  • Reducing the roughness for AlCrN layers pays off to a great extent with AlTiN-based coatings.

  • Even without repolishing, the Avaluxe formula and an optimized coating process achieve an average surface roughness of less than 25 nm for a 3 micrometer thick coating. This becomes a  highly efficient chip transport supported. The layers are also suitable for use in turbine engines where a high gas throughput is required.
