ZIRCONIUM FOR ZIRCONIUM NITRIDE (ZrN) and ZIRCONIUM CARBONITRIDE (ZrCN) COATINGS
Zirconium nitride and zirconium carbonitride coatings with excellent mechanical properties - a brilliant candidate for decorative applications
Extremely smooth ZrN and ZrCN based coatings with excellent adhesive strength for decorative applications
ZrN has a higher wear resistance (H / E) than titanium nitride, whereby the same modulus of elasticity but a higher hardness can be achieved. ZrN and ZrCN layers have become the standard in decorative applications and in medical technology.
Hardness (up to 32 GPa)
Low internal stress
Excellent wear resistance
HF1-level adhesive property on metallic and non-metallic substrates
low separation temperature
lower crystallization temperature
Layers of 0.5-6 µm
Long-term chemical stability
Very good adhesive strength
Extremely smooth surfaces
For machining aluminum, copper, brass
Plumbing and jewelry items
Coatings for implants
High corrosion resistance and chemical stability of zirconium nitride layers
With zirconium, sophisticated zirconium nitride and zirconium carbonitride coatings are possible that:
have a high resistance to corrosion
Meet biocompatibility requirements
Enable high-performance machining
unlike titanium nitride TiN coatings do not lead to cold welds
are used in the lithography of semiconductor technology
require a lower deposition temperature due to their lower crystallization temperature
which with attractive colors - similar to gold - are particularly suitable for decorative applications
Zirconium nitride in the ARC and HiPIMS process
Standard applications are a thing of the past,
unique and outstanding coating results are now in demand.
Tailor-made alloys for specific and demanding applications and
of course also standard sizes in the form of individual offers.
THANKS TO INNOVATIVE PROCESSES, SUBSEQUENT SURFACE TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED
Hybrid coating processes allow the development of high-performance technical ZrN films with a low coefficient of friction on high-gloss surfaces.
Using hybrid coating processes, ZrN can be combined with TiN and CrN in order to achieve individual functional properties.
Extremely smooth surfaces can be achieved by combining evaporation-assisted sputtering processes and pulsed arc processes. A surface treatment, such as polishing or brushing, after the deposition is thus superfluous.
The lower getter properties of zircon do not require a clean room environment for high-quality ZrN coatings, which saves enormous costs in production.
